Exhibition Overview:
Organized by the Wuhu Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and the Anhui Provincial Museum, and meticulously presented by Wuhu Museum, this exhibition is proudly supported by nine cultural institutions including the National Museum of China, the Anhui Provincial Museum, Bengbu Museum, Ma'anshan Museum, Tongling Museum, Anqing Museum, Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum, Mianzhu Museum, and Shifang Museum. A remarkable collection of precious artifacts will jointly embark visitors on an exploratory journey across the Yangtze River basin into the realm of ancient bronze civilization.
Following the narrative thread of "Diverse Origins," "Bronze Convergence," and "Unification of the Realm," the exhibition systematically traces the historical process from the Shang-Zhou period through the Qin-Han era, during which the distinct bronze cultures of the Jianghuai and Bashu regions evolved from their unique characteristics toward gradual integration, culminating in cultural confluence within the framework of a unified empire.
The exhibition brings together 109 artifacts (sets), over 80 of which are classified as precious cultural relics. Spanning ritual vessels, weaponry, and daily utensils, the collection features notable treasures such as a Bronze Human Head from the Sanxingdui culture, a Bronze Dou (stemmed bowl) from the Chu King's Tomb at Lisan Gudui, and a Bronze Ding (cauldron) from the tomb of Lord Bai of Zhongli at Shuangdun, Bengbu. These artifacts serve not merely as witnesses to history but as vivid carriers of cultural exchange and integration. From the mysterious solemnity of the Shang-Zhou period, through the dynamic interactions of the Spring-Autumn and Warring States periods, to the synthesis and consolidation of the Qin-Han dynasties, each bronze piece narrates a captivating story of the Yangtze River civilization's development, reflecting the unique charm of Chinese civilization—characterized by unity in diversity and an inclusive spirit.
