Exhibition Title: Auspicious Metal Across a Thousand Miles: A Special Exhibition on the Bronze Civilization of Southwest China
Exhibition Period: December 23, 2025 – April 6, 2026
Exhibition Venue: Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Museum
Exhibition Overview:
This exhibition centers on the bronze civilization of Southwest China, bringing together 207 exquisite artifacts (sets) from the collections of 16 cultural institutions across five provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities): Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan, Guizhou, and Guangxi. Among these are 72 Grade I artifacts, 47 Grade II artifacts, and 25 Grade III artifacts, with Grade I artifacts comprising over one-third of the total—presenting audiences with a grand feast of the region’s bronze civilization!
Through representative cultures from the Pre-Qin to Qin-Han periods in Southwest China, and using spatial organization as the primary narrative thread, the exhibition combines static displays, scene reconstructions, and digital interactions to present a multidimensional view of the region’s diverse bronze culture, exquisite craftsmanship, and far-reaching influence. It highlights the unique creativity of ancient civilizations such as Bashu, Dian, and Yelang, along with their dynamic processes of integration with the Central Plains civilization. The exhibition recounts the historical stories of exchange, interaction, and fusion among the various ethnic groups in Southwest China.
